Originally a reference to needlework, hearkening back to mythology. I thought it enigmatic enough to capture some aspect of my essence.

I made myself my muse.

The muse of unraveling. Of deconstructing. Of untying the knots that that bind us to who we never were.

The muse of thriving in liminal spaces. The unreal. Candles flickering as I summon love into your body.

Prophetic dreams of the mundane.

I once came undone. Life began to unstitch the threads I had desperately tried to sew over my hurt; Fate had another plan for me. It then became my task to finish the unstitching. To see the beauty in my soul undone. To make my self anew.

I have no delusions of solidity in my current self. We renew and remake our selves each day, the threads and stitches subtly shifting over time. We co-create our selves with the Universe, and with each other.

About the Muse

Welcome dear one. I’m Allyson, the face behind the Unstitched Muse. I am a poet, an artist, and an intuitive soul. I have a Gemini Sun, Sagittarius Moon, and Libra Rising. An insatiable hunger for knowledge and a belief that everything is connected fuel my life’s work. I live in Denver, Colorado, with my husband, our fierce cat, our luscious garden, and far too many books. And yet, not enough books.

I have always seen magic in the world. As a child, this was filtered through the language of my inherited religion; as an adult, I have learned instead to read the language of my own soul. The patterns drawn in the air, the songs of the stars, the symbols woven into the depths of our minds. The dreams that foreshadow daytime events.

My journey through life has challenged me, forced me through deep, transformative growth. I remake my self constantly, unraveling the threads of who I used to be and using the material to shape a new reflection. I wax and wane with the moon.

I believe we each get to shape our fate, going beyond a predictive use of these tools to use them as a mirror, a map, an exploration of the patterns of the universe.

My background as a poet, librarian, and lifelong seeker shapes how I approach both my own learning and the journey we will embark on together. I bring endless curiosity, reverence for your story, and the belief that we each hold the truth we are searching for. You already have within you the truth you seek, I get to guide you through uncovering it and integrating it into your life.
